Framing the Dining Room

Has it been a month since my last post! Time flies; but the guys have been busy and much has been done.

From House
This is the new dining room. They have torn out the roof and wall, and are continuing to frame the new roof.

From House
After about a week, the roof for the dining room is framed and sheeted. They also installed one of the large windows.

Wall and Roof Framing

House is going up fast and you can really start making out the overall addition and the rooms

Here is a shot from the back, looking at the master bath on the left and master bedroom on the right.

After a couple more days, the roof framing is just about finished.

Doesn't seem much left of the old house.

Walls are going up!

Now things are getting exciting. It will now start looking like a house.

From House
First, some not so exciting sill plates.

From House
Now we have some walls. Looking at the common bathroom from Dominic's room

More Demo

Yikes! Has it been almost a month since my last post? Much has happened. They have started demo in the bathroom, bedroom and living area of the existing house.

From House
Here is our old bathroom; Check out the strange framing and 2x3 studs? I guess they were trying to save wood

From House
Bathroom seems so small.

From House
Wall separating master bedroom and bathroom.

From House
More of those narrow studs. Hard to believe the house has stood for almost 100 years.

From House
What a mess. Note the newer lumber that was probably put in during the last remodel.

From House
Tub is in rough shape. A little elbow grease and it will be like new. If we ever got in the tamale business, we could always use it to mix the masa.
